I have tried a keyboard that I know works and get the same message. Several functions may not work. If so, and the keyboard works fine on another system, then it's likely that either the hardware supporting the keyboard is broken - or that the software/firmware doesn't recognize it. This time there was no keyboard error, just the checksum one (which is allegedly related to a weak battery). I've tried another keyboard and that works fine. I had no driver or any information there. Turns out my problem was a known issue with my Asus motherboard and found a BIOS update that cured my problem.
