You can try tapping while at the same time turning the camera on and off with your other hand. You may be able to remedy this problem by slightly twisting the barrel of the lens while fully extended (max. Hii have a canon digital ixus60 or whatever its called... While powering up, i pulled the inner cylinder counter clockwise and felt a snap. Anyone else out there have any success by applying a tiny bit of oil around the lens barrel? Reinsert the cable only AFTER tapping the camera.

My wife did drop the camera accidentally and got the lenses stuck. The lens will get stuck in the extended position, and refuse to move either to focus the lens or to retract when powered off.
