well I had my Finepix s7000 lens stucked with sand(yes sand!). Restarting your camera would be your first step, if the problem is not solved try to replace the LCD. I was sitting down on the floor so I didn't hit it hard, but that did it. In other words, try this if there's no obvious mechanical damage to the lens barrels that's causing the problem.
This person had a similar lens error to yours and fixed it by grabbing and holding onto the lens barrel as it was attempting to reclose. The lens does not retract.The logo is still there but very hard to see as the screen seems to be dark but it is there and freezed.So switch back to OFF Way to go! Place it on the back with the lens facing up and take a look at the spacing between the lens and the lens housing.
